Budgeting is the key element for the personal finances department, and every individual or family should practice it. However, creating a budget is not always easy, and creating a weekly budget can be even more difficult , since it is quite difficult to split your money into weeks. However, the bottom line is, creating a weekly budget is not impossible, and you can easily do it if you learn a few smart tips.

The main things you need to consider when you create a weekly budget are:

  • What is available for spending?
  • Which are your expenses for the week?
  • Where can you find a template for your budget?
  • What should a budget contain?

So… what do you have available for spending?

Whether you are a student, young professional or adult, you need to have a weekly or monthly income in order to make the budget work. If you have a weekly income, creating a budget is easier, as you know exactly the sum you own every week. If you are paid once a month, then take the whole sum and split it into how many weeks there are in that month. Pay attention to each month because there are cases when the month does not have only four weeks! If you are paid twice a month, every time you get a paycheck, split it in two to make it last all the month.

Think about expenses

The next step is to evaluate your monthly expenses and split them into weeks.

Where can you find a budget template?

You can easily use Excel as the template for your weekly budget or you can look up for templates online. If you are old-school, use a sheet of paper and a pen.

What should a budget contain?

This is maybe the most important question. You should include things like:

  • Debts
  • Rent/Mortgage
  • Utilities/Bills
  • Entertainment
  • Food
  • Other expenses

However, you must also pay attention to a few things as well:

  • Make a list of the priorities in your list, such as bills, rent, and food
  • Get a clear idea on how much you are spending on what you are spending on
  • Make a list with the non-priorities in your list, such as card ills, loan repayments, etc

After you have created a weekly budget, it is very important to stick to it. If you want to stay organized and take care of your finances, is time you pay attention to how you spend your hard-earned money.
